An era ends in SFIT

Some men see things as they are and say, "Why?" Others dream of things that never were and say, "Why not?"

Bro. Tom was one of them.

And now he is no longer part of the SFIT family.Yet when i say this I'm again wrong, because Bro. Tom is an extraordinary person, and the legacy that he has left behind will endure for many years to come. Maybe after 20 years or so at a college re-union we might see him again. The first thing he would like to know, I'm sure is how many of us have become enterpreuners? That's the kind of man he is.

I remember entering SFIT as a nervous 18 year-old and sitting through the induction ceremony. Bro. Tom gave the address that day and it filled us with a strange enthusiasm and energy, that yes we have to uplift the mission and vison of SFIT. Most of us now after being battle-weary after 4yrs of engineering would have forgotten at least outwardly about it, but bhai (as we affectionately called him, it being an acronym for Bro.) would have anticipated that. Even if some of us are able to keep alive his message he'll be more than happy.

Describing what bhai did for the college is just not possible. It is both beyond my literary and emotional capabilities to write about it. But yes bhai was "the special one". Come IRIS come MOSAIC he had always an ear for us. Under his stewardship college campus placements rose from 85 a batch to 183 a batch. And these are just some meagre quantifiable facts. Bhai's spiritual and psychological precense was enormous. Even people like anna ( who usually dont give a damn about anyone else) were in awe of him.

Probably the most enduring memeory of bhai is his attachment to the college. When we went to meet him for the last time he asked us to keep the flag of SFIT flying high. Sir, I assure you that most of us will strive to always do that.

An era has truly ended, it began and ended with you. You will be missed a lot. Thank you for what you have made SFIT sir.

Bro. Tom bless us all,

Thank you.

Although the topic may seem inappropriate, another era has also ended in SFIT. The class of 2008
(i.e. us) relinquished the last vestiges of power to our juniors by SELECTING the IRIS'08 committee (highlight intended). Well we have always given more than 100% for IRIS and we expect the same from our juniors. The baton is really high guys and you have to make a serious jump to get there.
IRIS is like a plant which has been nurtured from Samuel's batch and now what you have is a young tree. You have to ensure that it grows into a strong and big banyan tree. Guys for all the infighting and bitching and back-biting that has happened, forget it and make IRIS better than last year. You have the capability, you only have to utilize it.
And if you dont..................and it has happened before.........................
we'll just put up a new notice saying that " WE'RE BAAACCKKKKK "

Love you Bro. Tom ,
cheers ppl
moksha

PS: These views(wrt IRIS) are personal and do not reflect the opinions of anybody else except me. DOES ANY BODY HAVE ANY FREAKIN PROBLEM WITH THAT ??????
